“Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” Proverbs 31:30
On International Women’s Day, we celebrate REMAR’s work that transforms lives through action and hope
On International Women’s Day, we celebrate the strength and unwavering spirit of women who, despite challenges, rise every day to build a better future. However, we cannot forget the most vulnerable women, those living in the shadow of violence, poverty, addiction, and marginalization.
REMAR, a non-governmental organization founded in 1982, tirelessly works to provide support and assistance to women in need. Their work, inspired by Christian values, spans a wide range of areas, from combating social injustice to caring for at-risk women, single mothers, women with addiction problems, and victims of violence.
Transforming lives: stories of hope and resilience
In 70 countries around the world, thousands of REMAR’s volunteer collaborators dedicate their lives to opening new sources of help, paths, and opportunities for women. Programs offer a safe space where these women can find:
- Shelter and accompaniment: REMAR provides refuge for women who have been victims of violence or find themselves homeless.
- Training and social reintegration programs: REMAR trains women in different areas so they can develop their skills, reintegrate into society, and be useful to the community where they operate.
- Spiritual support: REMAR offers spiritual accompaniment based on Christian values, providing hope, encouragement, and strength.
The transformation stories of women helped by REMAR, as instruments of God, are a living testimony to the power of hope and action. Resilient women who have overcome addiction, escaped violence, and built a dignified life for themselves and their families.
“Weaving Opportunities”: a project of hope in Equatorial Guinea
On International Women’s Day, a clear example of REMAR’s work in Bata, Equatorial Guinea, is the project called “WEAVING OPPORTUNITIES FOR WOMEN AND YOUTH OF BATA-LITORAL,” which aims to help women and young people in vulnerable situations by providing them with tools for personal and professional development.
Entrepreneurial projects for women
Through entrepreneurial projects like this, REMAR provides women and youth with the necessary tools to learn a trade, reach their full potential, and build a dignified life, allowing them to integrate into the workforce and generate income to support their families. Each ongoing project benefits not only the participants but also the entire community, boosting economic growth and productivity.
