REMAR Bolivia provides urgent assistance to families affected by fires in Urubichá

Fires devastate more than 900,000 hectares in Urubichá, Bolivia. REMAR brings food, water and hope to a community that continues to struggle to recover

In recent weeks, the municipality of Urubichá, in the province of Guarayos, 360 kilometers northeast of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, has faced a serious emergency due to forest fires that have destroyed more than 900,000 hectares of forest. This devastating situation led municipal authorities to declare a state of emergency and evacuate children, people with pre-existing illnesses, and the elderly to protect their health. Children were forced to stop attending school for several weeks.

REMAR Bolivia volunteers in Urubichá: Immediate relief and support

Faced with this crisis, a team of volunteers from the NGO REMAR in Bolivia went to the community of Urubichá, one of the most affected by the fires, to provide support. With hearts full of faith and solidarity, they brought food, water, clothing and a message of hope to families who had lost almost everything.

The Impact of Work: Smiles in the Midst of Adversity

Despite the difficult situation that the population is facing, the volunteers shared moments of joy with the community, especially with the children, who, despite the adversities, smiled with gratitude. “Thank God for giving us the opportunity to bring a message of hope, food, water and clothing, leaving joy and peace in their hearts. We returned home tired, but with the image of the beautiful smiles of the children and adults upon receiving the blessings that God allowed us to bring,” commented one of the REMAR Bolivia volunteers.

Although the fires have been brought under control, the situation in Urubichá remains critical. Many families need help to rebuild their homes and meet their basic needs, such as water and food.
