In Haiti, where violence and extreme poverty threaten the lives of children, REMAR is fighting for their survival. Find out how the NGO REMAR is taking action in Haiti to protect and care for children at risk
World Day of Action for Child Survival is celebrated every year with the aim of stopping the mortality of children under five and mothers from preventable causes. Diseases such as pneumonia, diarrhea, complications during childbirth or malnutrition continue to be responsible for the death of thousands of children, especially in vulnerable regions.
These tragedies, most of which are preventable, remind us of the urgency of improving health, nutrition, ensuring access to safe water and sanitation, and promoting healthy lifestyle habits. Only in this way can we ensure that all children have the opportunity to grow up healthy and develop fully.
REMAR’s Fight for Child Survival
For more than 40 years, REMAR has developed actions and projects in countries around the world with a special focus on the protection and well-being of the most vulnerable children. In foster homes, thousands of children facing an uncertain future have found a refuge where their health is taken care of, their nutrition is improved and they are offered access to education.
Their work has focused on providing what children need to not only survive, but also to live a full life. Through self-sustainability programs, many of our homes have been able to ensure decent and constant food for children. In addition, access to essential medical services has significantly increased the child survival rate in the areas where REMAR operates.
REMAR in Haiti: A Beacon of Hope in the Midst of Chaos
Haiti is one of the most dangerous and vulnerable countries in the world, marked by a high rate of violence, extreme poverty and risks that particularly affect children. In the midst of this chaos, the NGO REMAR has maintained its unwavering commitment to child survival. Through its foster home, REMAR offers a safe haven for dozens of children who live under its protection, away from the dangers that surround them.
In this home, children receive adequate food, education, protection and the opportunity to live in dignified conditions. Despite the enormous challenges of working in a country as unstable as Haiti, REMAR continues to fight to ensure that each child in its care has the opportunity to grow up in a safe and healthy environment, something that in many parts of Haiti seems unattainable.
A Call to Action: Help the Children of Haiti
“I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40 (NIV)
On this Global Day of Action for Child Survival, we invite you to support a cause that truly saves lives. The REMAR Children’s Home in Haiti needs your help to continue offering a safe and dignified shelter for dozens of children. Currently, we face the challenge of covering the cost of renting the house where these children struggle to get by.
Your donation can make a difference. Give today and make sure these children continue to have a place to grow, learn and be protected. Support the Children’s Home in Haiti, an action that not only gives them hope, but also the opportunity for a better life.
