The project Action Haiti with full force! financed by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and with the work of the missionaries and volunteers of the NGO Remar, is now a reality, providing humanitarian aid to more than 822 people in the city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, which consists on sharing a daily meal, plus medical attention, increasing the attention to 822 people in the home- soup kitchen that the NGO Remar has in Haiti “A Little Grain of Hope” located in that city.
REMAR has been working in Haiti since 2005 attending the homeless, providing shelter to people in need, especially children living in extreme poverty and to victims of the earthquake of 2010, food, clothing, education. Currently, we have a home for children where we also have a school with teachers hired so that the children are provided with the best education and there is also a soup kitchen.
With funding from the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa (Diputación Foral de Gipuzkoa) and the efforts of the NGO REMAR in Haiti, daily a ration of food is provided to 822 people who come daily looking for food which in some cases is the only meal of the day for many families and their children.
Haiti is a country that has constantly suffered from various political problems, confrontations, violence and extreme poverty, in addition to natural disasters that happen frequently such as hurricanes and earthquakes, the aid is urgent and necessary to face the daily situations.
The NGO REMAR would like to give a special thank you to the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa for its solidarity and for making it possible to share food with hundreds of people who happily wait for their daily supply. The help doesn’t only consist of food but also health care and the attention and affection of the missionaries and the volunteers of Remar who care for them and provide for their needs in the midst of the crisis that is lived.
