REMAR on International Education Day 2025

With the motto for the year 2025 “’AI and education: preserving autonomy in an automated world’, REMAR celebrates this day by strengthening education in children and young people by combining technology and Christian principles for a better future

Education at the heart of the technological revolution

The International Day of Education 2025 invites us to reflect on a crucial theme for the future: “AI and education: preserving autonomy in an automated world”. This theme highlights how education can empower individuals and communities to understand, navigate and influence a constantly changing technological environment.

In a world where artificial intelligence (AI) and technological advances are redefining how we live, work and learn, education not only transmits knowledge, but also develops autonomous individuals capable of making informed and principled decisions.

REMAR’s mission in a technological world

In more than 70 countries, the NGO REMAR has witnessed how education transforms lives. Now, more than ever, REMAR works to ensure that children and young people in vulnerable situations are not excluded from the technological revolution. In REMAR schools, in addition to receiving a basic education based on Christian values, students also learn digital and technological skills that prepare them for an ever-changing future.

AI and other technological tools are already part of the educational environment in many countries. However, for disadvantaged communities, access to these resources remains limited. Therefore, REMAR seeks to close this gap by offering educational programs that integrate technology and teach children not only how to use digital tools, but also how to reflect on how they can use them for the common good.

AI as a tool, not a substitute

Artificial intelligence has the potential to revolutionize education by facilitating access to knowledge, personalizing learning, and improving educational processes. However, it also poses ethical and social challenges that should not be ignored. Education must prepare people to:

  • Understanding technological advances.
  • Make informed decisions about its use.
  • Maintaining personal autonomy in the face of automated systems.

REMAR’s educational programs emphasize how to use technology responsibly, always aligned with the Christian values of responsibility, justice and love for one’s neighbor.

Preparing new generations to lead with wisdom

Education is not only about training children for the present, but also preparing them to lead the future. In an automated world, skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and empathy will be as important as technological knowledge. In this sense, REMAR seeks to ensure that each child under its care not only has access to technological tools, but also develops the values and principles necessary to use them wisely and responsibly, as Proverbs 4:7 says,
“Wisdom is the main thing; get wisdom, and with all your possessions get understanding.”

Education as a bridge to hope

The 2025 motto reminds us that technology must be an ally of education, not its enemy. At REMAR, we have seen how the combination of education, values and technology can transform lives, allowing children and young people in vulnerable situations to find hope and purpose.

Help us continue building futures with purpose
