REMAR Brasil brings hope to Jardim Fontalis, in Guarulhos, São Paulo, by delivering essential food supplies to more than 300 families in vulnerable situations
A gesture of hope for Jardim Fontalis
The Jardim Fontalis community, one of the most disadvantaged areas of Guarulhos, São Paulo, recently received help from the NGO REMAR Brasil. On this occasion, 200 food kits were distributed, including vegetables, fruits and greens, as well as more than 200 snacks for children and young people. Thanks to this action, more than 300 families benefited, obtaining a respite in the midst of a very difficult economic and social situation.

The reality of vulnerable communities in Brazil
In Brazil, many families face extreme poverty, especially in communities like Jardim Fontalis. In several cities, thousands of people live in favelas, which is the name given in Brazil to the precarious or informal settlements that grow around or within the country’s large cities, where access to basic resources is limited. Families with small children struggle daily to make ends meet.
These circumstances make aid such as that of REMAR Brazil vital to ensure that these families have access to essential food. These initiatives not only provide food, but also bring hope and relief to those who need it most.

REMAR Brazil’s commitment since 1992
More than three decades serving the most vulnerable
REMAR Brazil began operations in 1992 and has since worked tirelessly in different cities across the country. REMAR focuses on the most needy areas, and also helps people at risk of addiction problems through its foster homes and also provides assistance to low-income families, the elderly and children.
REMAR’s outstanding projects in Brazil
Food delivery in vulnerable communities: As in Jardim Fontalis, REMAR regularly travels to favelas to deliver food to families in need.
Hospital support programs: REMAR volunteers also provide food and words of encouragement to patients’ families outside the Guarulhos hospital. They also organize recreational activities for hospitalized children, visiting them and making sure they have a pleasant time amidst the situation they are going through.
Comprehensive care: In addition to food aid, REMAR works with rehabilitation programs for people with addiction problems and provides shelter and care to those who need it most in foster homes for their rehabilitation and reintegration.
Soup kitchens: REMAR in Brazil also has soup kitchens such as Casa da Sopa, which provides food daily to more than 500 people at risk.
Jardim Fontalis: A new opportunity to make a difference
The recent action in Jardim Fontalis highlights REMAR Brazil’s ongoing efforts to reach communities where poverty and lack of resources are a daily reality. This work is only possible thanks to the support of caring people and donors who allow these actions to multiply.
