A sweet gesture of love for the most vulnerable in Lanús, Argentina

REMAR Lanús volunteers bring a gesture of love and a message of faith to transform lives in one of the most vulnerable cities in Argentina

In Lanús, Argentina, the team of volunteers from the NGO REMAR, in addition to the activities they periodically carry out in favor of hundreds of vulnerable people, every December they carry out the initiative of going out into the streets to bring hope, share homemade sweets, food and transmit a message of faith and hope in God.

A Gesture of Love that Reaches the Heart

From very early in the morning, volunteers lovingly and diligently prepare homemade sweets, drinks and food, which they then distribute to hundreds of homeless people: men, women, children and families who, due to addiction problems, extreme poverty or destitution, lack a home where they can take refuge. This gesture of love not only seeks to alleviate immediate needs, but also to touch hearts with the message of God’s love and offer them the hope of a new beginning.

The tours include key places such as Plaza General Manuel Belgrano and the train and bus station, where words of encouragement and invitations to REMAR foster homes become a light of hope for those who need it most.

Lanús: A social reality that calls us to act

Lanús, in the province of Buenos Aires, faces serious social challenges. Around 47% of its population lives in poverty, and a large number of young people fail to complete their secondary education due to a lack of resources and opportunities. This contributes to social exclusion and homelessness, a reality that REMAR faces with faith, action and solidarity.

Three Decades Changing Lives in Argentina

Since its arrival in the country in 1992, REMAR Argentina has worked tirelessly to support people in vulnerable situations. With projects present in multiple cities, the organization has become a beacon of hope for those seeking a second chance and a more dignified life.

In REMAR homes and centers, homeless people, women who have suffered violence, children at risk and older adults find a safe environment where they receive food, care and comprehensive support. These spaces offer not only the basics, but also the opportunity to start a new chapter in their lives.

Addiction Recovery and Reintegration

REMAR specializes in programs designed to support those facing addiction problems. Its approach includes stages of detoxification and social reintegration, helping people overcome their addictions while acquiring practical skills that allow them to reintegrate into society.

Transformative Action in Prisons

REMAR’s mission also extends to inmates in Argentine prisons. Through spiritual guidance, training and social support, the organization seeks to help those serving a sentence find renewed purpose and prepare for a positive reintegration into the community.

Promoting Community Development

Through projects that encourage self-sufficiency and active participation, REMAR works in the most disadvantaged communities. These initiatives not only improve living conditions, but also raise awareness and strengthen the sense of belonging among its members.
