Volunteers bring food, support and the opportunity to transform lives to homeless people in Johannesburg through the Night Angels Programme
On the cold nights of Johannesburg, where indifference and hopelessness seem to reign, a group of volunteers from the NGO REMAR becomes a beacon of light and hope for those who need it most. With the Night Angels program, every week they walk the streets carrying a plate of hot food, a comforting drink and, above all, words of encouragement and the possibility of a better future.
On their latest mission, the Night Angels arrived on Jules Street, where dozens of homeless people face the harsh reality of extreme poverty. Young people, adults and people with addiction problems seek refuge in the precarious conditions of the street, enduring the inclement weather with no other company than the heat of the night fire.
Moved by this harsh reality, REMAR volunteers prepare nutritious food kits to deliver to each of them. But beyond food, they offer invaluable spiritual nourishment: they listen to their stories, share messages of hope and give them the opportunity to transform their lives.
