On the slopes of Morro do Céu, in Niterói, Brazil, a daily battle for survival is fought. Hundreds of families depend on recycling trash from the local landfill, arduous and dangerous work that exposes them to serious health risks.
Without adequate protection, the inhabitants of Morro do Céu are constantly exposed to infectious diseases, injuries and unhealthy conditions. Children, especially vulnerable, suffer the worst consequences of pollution.
In the midst of this bleak panorama, the NGO REMAR in Rio de Janeiro continues its social work by carrying out an initiative every week in that area, where they provide assistance to families and children in vulnerable situations, offering them food and support to improve their quality of life. life. The goal is to prevent children from being forced to consume contaminated food from landfills, thus protecting their health and well-being.
On this occasion, thanks to the generous donations of the M. Diaz Branco company, with the support of volunteers and supportive people, REMAR in Rio de Janeiro has been able to distribute 600 packages of cookies, 250 packages of oatmeal and 300 kilos of pasta, benefiting more than 400 people, including adults and children.
