Las Mesas Village is filled with joy, REMAR Honduras gives an unforgettable afternoon to 170 children

REMAR Honduras: A beacon of hope for children, young people and families in vulnerable situations in Honduras

The volunteers of the NGO REMAR Honduras organized an unforgettable afternoon   full of joy and solidarity for 170 children from the REMAR foster homes in the   Las Mesas Village, in the town of Francisco Morazán. The initiative, which took place in a natural environment surrounded by beauty, provided the children with lots of fun time, along with the opportunity to enjoy a delicious banquet.

The menu included “pupusas,” a typical Honduran dish greatly appreciated by children, as well as other foods, drinks and sweets. REMAR volunteers worked hard to prepare the food and organize games and activities, creating a festive and welcoming atmosphere for the little ones.

An oasis of hope in the midst of poverty

It is important to highlight that the Las Mesas Village area is a town with conditions of extreme poverty in which many families live. The lack of access to basic services such as drinking water, electricity, sanitation, education and others makes life even more difficult for these communities.

Many of the children who live in REMAR Honduras foster homes are under special protection, since their families do not have sufficient resources to provide them with a decent life. Extreme poverty and precarious housing conditions force many children to live in situations of risk and vulnerability.

More than 32 years transforming lives in Honduras

Since its creation in 1992, the NGO REMAR Honduras has worked tirelessly to transform the lives of people in vulnerable situations in Honduras. Through its various programs and foster homes, REMAR offers hope and a path to a better future for those who need it most.

  • Foster homes for boys and girls

REMAR Honduras provides a home for boys and a home for girls, safe and loving homes for   boys and girls who have been victims of abandonment, abuse or who live in situations of extreme poverty. Children receive education, food, medical care and all the support necessary to grow and develop in a healthy and protective environment.

  • Support for families at risk

The organization also offers a home for families who are at social risk, providing them with guidance, social assistance and tools to improve their quality of life. REMAR works with families to strengthen their ties, promote responsible parenting and prevent situations of child abandonment or abuse.

  • Shelter homes for men undergoing rehabilitation

REMAR Honduras has shelter homes for men who are fighting addictions. In these homes, men receive comprehensive treatment, emotional and spiritual support, and the opportunity to learn new skills and reintegrate into society in the future as productive members.

  • Cafeteria as a workshop-school for preparation for life

The organization has developed an innovative initiative with the creation of a cafeteria that functions as a workshop-school for young people between 14 and 18 years old. In this space, young people receive training in the hospitality area and carry out internships serving the public, thus acquiring valuable skills for their future work.

  • Upcoming projects: Soup kitchen and youth house

REMAR Honduras continues to work tirelessly to expand its positive impact on the community. Among their next projects is the opening of a soup kitchen to serve low-income people, and the construction of a new house to provide even more support to young adolescents.
