A model of self-sustainability and social reintegration for men in the rehabilitation process in Bolivia
The NGO REMAR Bolivia shares the transformative work carried out at the First Phase Rehabilitation Farm for Men, located in the municipality of Pazña in the department of Oruro. This space offers men in the process of rehabilitation a safe and dignified home, where they not only find refuge, but also the opportunity to rebuild their lives and become productive members of society.
Learning Skills for the Future
At the First Phase Farm, inmates actively participate in workshops on gardening, raising farm animals, and making cleaning products. These activities not only provide them with valuable skills for their future, but also allow them to contribute to the self-sustainability of the project and at the same time support other REMAR households in other cities in the country.
“More than a rehabilitation center, the First Phase Farm is a home where love, support and the necessary tools are provided so that people can get ahead,” say the REMAR Bolivia volunteers. “It is inspiring to see how our inmates transform, learn new trades and feel useful to society. Their recovery process not only impacts their lives, but also has a positive effect on their families and communities.”

A model of self-sustainability and social reintegration
REMAR Bolivia’s First Phase Farm stands out for its focus on self-sustainability. The two solar tents on the farm allow horticultural production throughout the year, while the raising of farm animals provides food for consumption by the inmates and sale to the local community. The production of cleaning products, on the other hand, generates additional income that is reinvested in the project to ensure its continuity.
“Self-sustainability is a fundamental pillar, REMAR seeks for inmates to learn to take care of themselves and feel useful. This gives them the confidence and security they need to successfully reintegrate into society in the future or to become volunteers for the NGO to continue helping others, as they were helped.
REMAR doing good for the community
The REMAR Bolivia First Phase Farm is more than a rehabilitation center; It is a help point for the community. The inmates of the First Phase Estate are an example of improvement and hope. His recovery process inspires many to continue working for a better future for all.
