More than 60 families and 50 children received food and school supplies during a charity event organized by REMAR Santo Domingo, reaffirming its 25-year commitment to the most disadvantaged
Solidarity in Action: More than 60 Families Receive Food
In a recent solidarity event, a group of volunteers from the NGO REMAR in Santo Domingo went to the La Ureña sector to provide support to dozens of families in vulnerable situations. In collaboration with the community’s neighborhood council, they organized to identify the neediest families, managing to assist more than 60 homes.
During the day, volunteers distributed hot meals, alleviating the hunger of many people living in precarious conditions. In addition, non-perishable foods were distributed, such as rice, beans and sugar, essential products that will help these families face the coming days with a little more peace of mind.
Working Together with the Community
This action would not have been possible without the close collaboration with the La Ureña neighborhood council, who were in charge of coordinating and facilitating the delivery of food to the most affected families by REMAR volunteers. This joint work reinforces REMAR’s commitment to not only offer timely help, but also to involve the community in the process of improvement and mutual support.
Backpacks and School Supplies: A Gift of Hope for 50 Children
In addition to the food delivery, REMAR volunteers also handed out backpacks full of school supplies to 50 children in the community. The children were delighted to receive these gifts, which are essential for starting the school year with the necessary tools. For many families in the area, acquiring school supplies is an insurmountable economic challenge, so this help is essential for children to be able to continue their education.
Education: A Fundamental Pillar in REMAR’s Work
At REMAR, education is one of the most important pillars of its mission. Over the years, the NGO has worked tirelessly to ensure that children at risk have access to quality education, as a first step to escape the cycle of poverty and marginalization. This delivery of backpacks is not only a gesture of material support, but a commitment to the future of these children.
REMAR’s Ongoing Commitment in La Ureña
REMAR volunteers in Santo Domingo have reaffirmed their commitment to continue providing assistance to the most disadvantaged families in La Ureña. This action is part of a sustained effort to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable and ensure that they have access to basic resources.
In the coming months, REMAR volunteers plan to carry out more activities in La Ureña, with the aim of continuing to support families in need.
25 Years of Impact in the Dominican Republic
This year, REMAR Dominican Republic celebrates 25 years of dedication and uninterrupted effort since its founding in 1999. During this quarter of a century, the NGO has rescued hundreds of children and young people at risk, giving them the opportunity to change their lives forever.
Transforming Lives: Stories of Hope
Over the years, REMAR has seen how children rescued from the streets and situations of abandonment have had the opportunity to receive education, support and a safe environment in which to grow. Many of them, now adults, are professionals who contribute positively to society and have built a full life thanks to the opportunities provided by the NGO.
REMAR’s commitment does not stop here. The NGO continues to work tirelessly to offer support, hope and resources to the most disadvantaged, especially children and young people who represent the future of the Dominican Republic.
