The NGO REMAR continues its solidarity mission with a new shipment of essential products to Togo, providing crucial support to children, young people and families at risk
REMAR’s headquarters in Spain has recently prepared and sent a container of humanitarian aid to REMAR homes in Togo, a nation facing major social and economic challenges. This shipment includes essential items such as food, clothing, hygiene products and furniture, carefully selected according to the needs experienced in the country.
Togo: A country in need of solidarity
Togo, located in West Africa and with a population of approximately 8 million people, is a country that has faced numerous challenges, including extreme poverty, unemployment, and lack of access to basic services such as health and education. More than 50% of its population lives in poverty, with a high percentage of children suffering from malnutrition and lack of schooling. The situation is especially difficult in rural areas, where access to resources is even more limited.
Given this reality, the work of organisations such as REMAR is crucial in offering support to the most vulnerable communities. REMAR homes in Togo are a refuge for children, families and young people who have suffered from abandonment, malnutrition or addiction problems. With the recent shipment of this container, REMAR Spain reaffirms its commitment to improving the living conditions of these groups.
REMAR homes in Togo: a beacon of hope
REMAR runs several homes in Togo, such as the two in Lomé Kodomé, which take in 30 children aged between 6 and 19, all of whom attend school and take part in educational workshops. Also in the capital, Lomé, is the Adidogomé home, which cares for more than 20 abandoned babies.
In Kpalime, a home houses 19 children aged 9 to 15, who, as in Lomé, attend school regularly. Meanwhile, in Agou, a home has recently been opened for 35 young people facing abandonment and addiction problems, providing them with a safe environment and a comprehensive recovery programme.
In addition to the homes for children, REMAR Togo also supports families in extreme poverty. In the homes for couples and families, help is provided to children whose families have been victims of marginalization, malnutrition, and lack of resources. These homes are more than shelters: they are a space for rehabilitation, education, and hope for those who need it most.
