REMAR receives recognition from FEREDE along with other social and evangelical entities

The Federation of Evangelical Religious Entities of Spain (FEREDE) has awarded 44 entities for their dedication to social action, highlighting the work of the NGO REMAR in the fight against poverty, exclusion and addictions

The Federation of Evangelical Religious Entities of Spain (FEREDE) has granted well-deserved recognition to 44 Protestant and evangelical social entities for their exceptional dedication and delivery in social work to impact and transform lives. Among the award-winning entities is the NGO REMAR, highlighted for its commitment to social rights and its tireless work to improve and give hope to the most vulnerable people.

This recognition frames the following words:

“In recognition of the exceptional dedication and dedication in social work to impact and transform lives. Their commitment to social rights has improved and given hope to the most vulnerable people. This recognition is a testament to their contribution and a reminder that true change comes from acts of kindness. (Madrid, June 26, 2024)”.

The recognition ceremony, held at the American International Institute in Madrid, was attended by representatives of the distinguished entities, government authorities, representatives of Diakonia Spain, journalists and the public.

A commitment to those most in need

The 44 award-winning entities, of which only 38 were able to be present at the event, were selected for their high impact at the provincial, national and international level. Despite the historical difficulties that the Protestant minority in Spain has faced, these entities, motivated by the evangelical principle of love for God and neighbor, have persevered in their work of assisting those most in need.

Surprising facts about evangelical social action

During the meeting, real and inspiring testimonies were presented from people who have benefited from the action of evangelical entities, people rescued from the streets, drugs, social marginalization, prisons, etc.

Also during the meeting, data from the 2022 Protestant Social Action Study were presented, revealing surprising figures about the scope and impact of evangelical social work in Spain. Despite the obstacles and lack of institutional support for many years, these entities have managed to position themselves among the first large NGOs in the country, only behind organizations such as the Spanish Red Cross and the Spanish Episcopal Conference.

Recognition of NGO REMAR

The NGO REMAR, one of the award-winning entities, is an example of this social work. With a presence throughout Spain and in more than 70 countries, REMAR has been working for more than 40 years on the social reintegration of people with addictions and in vulnerable situations. REMAR offers these people a comprehensive recovery program that includes coverage of their basic needs, support and spiritual accompaniment.

FEREDE’s recognition of the NGO REMAR and other evangelical social entities is a step to make visible the important role that Protestant and evangelical entities play in Spanish society. His exemplary work in the fight against poverty, social exclusion and the defense of human rights deserves to be supported and promoted, both inside and outside the evangelical sphere.
