Hundreds of boxes of food and basic necessities will be sent to the most affected areas, along with a message of hope and comfort for the families affected by the floods in Romania
The recent torrential rains in south-east Romania, caused by storm Boris, have left a tragic toll on the villages of Slobozia, Conachie and Pechea. The floods, described as “historic” by local authorities, have caused several deaths, missing people, thousands of evacuated, and hundreds of thousands without electricity. Streets and homes have suffered severe damage, leaving families in extremely vulnerable situations.
In response to this crisis, REMAR SOS, in collaboration with Messengers of Peace, has activated its emergency protocol to provide assistance to those affected in the most devastated areas.
REMAR SOS and Messengers of Peace Prepare Humanitarian Aid for Romania
In response to the devastating floods, REMAR SOS and Messengers of Peace are already working tirelessly to prepare hundreds of boxes with food and humanitarian aid. These boxes, which include essential items such as non-perishable food, drinking water, clothing and hygiene items, will be sent immediately to the towns most affected by the torrential rains, such as Slobozia Conachie and Pechea.
The sending of this aid not only seeks to meet the basic needs of families who have lost everything, but also carries a message of hope. The teams of volunteers from REMAR SOS and Messengers of Peace will go to the devastated areas to offer words of encouragement and comfort to those who face the anguish and pain of having seen their lives fall apart in a matter of days.
This solidarity effort is a reflection of the commitment of both organizations to be present in the most difficult crises, providing concrete help and, above all, hope to those who need it most.
REMAR SOS at the side of those in need
After a natural disaster, the situation in the affected areas is heartbreaking. The anguish and desperation are palpable among hundreds of families. In response, REMAR SOS teams are actively working in the most affected areas to provide urgent humanitarian aid.
In situations of natural disasters such as the floods in Romania, REMAR SOS follows an emergency protocol that includes the following steps:

Coordination with Authorities and International Organizations : Direct communication is established with local authorities and international organizations to coordinate the response and avoid duplication of efforts.
Activation of Response Teams: The necessary volunteers and resources, such as food, drinking water, clothing and hygiene products, are mobilized and sent to critical points.
Establishment of Aid Centers: Temporary camps or distribution points are set up in affected areas, where evacuated families can receive food, medical and psychological care.
Care for the Most Vulnerable: REMAR SOS places a special focus on caring for families with children, the elderly, and those with disabilities, providing them with the necessary resources to cope with the emergency.
Recovery and Rehabilitation: Following the critical phase of the emergency, REMAR teams remain present to assist in the rehabilitation of affected communities, helping to rebuild homes and re-establish essential services.
Ongoing Commitment
REMAR SOS and its emergency teams are committed to helping those most in need. This protocol not only responds to the current situation in Romania, but is part of its intervention in global catastrophes, providing humanitarian assistance and hope in times of crisis.
