REMAR SOS Intensifies its Relief Efforts in Valencia to Support the Victims

REMAR is increasing its work in the affected areas of Valencia, bringing food, drinking water, and essential assistance to hundreds of affected families

Since the beginning of the emergency caused by the heavy rains and flooding in Valencia, the NGO REMAR,   through the   REMAR SOS emergency protocol, has been active on the ground, providing support to people whose homes and livelihoods have been severely affected. Currently, REMAR has a team of more than 30 volunteers in “ground zero”, who have recently received the support of another 12 volunteers from Madrid, joining forces and resources to extend aid to the most affected areas.

Direct Aid in Five Localities and Expansion to New Areas

The REMAR SOS team is working in five priority locations: Paiporta, Catarroja, Sedaví, Alfafar and Aldaya. In each of these locations, aid centres have been set up to coordinate the delivery of essential supplies such as food, water, clothing and personal hygiene products. These centres also function as information and support points, where those affected can come to receive help and advice.

In addition, REMAR plans to extend this work to Benetúser and Picanya, in order to reach more people and speed up the delivery of aid in additional areas.

Logistics and Storage Center to Support the Continuous Supply of Resources

As part of its efforts to maximize the reach of the aid, REMAR SOS plans to set up a warehouse at the entrance to the town of Picanya that will serve as a logistics center. This space will store and organize the products that will be distributed weekly to the five aid points, thus ensuring a constant flow of food and basic necessities. This center will also serve as housing for volunteers who dedicate their time and effort to managing this operation, and it is projected that it will become REMAR’s main supply warehouse in Valencia in the future.

Community Support and Rehabilitation Services

REMAR SOS’s commitment goes beyond immediate aid: in addition to delivering food and basic necessities, volunteers are devoting hours to cleaning tasks, clearing streets of rubbish and debris so that families can return to their homes. REMAR will soon also set up community laundries so that people can wash and recover their personal belongings, a vital service to restore their dignity and help them in the reconstruction process.

REMAR Expands its Aid in Valencia with Support from Other Institutions

Thanks to the support of other organisations, REMAR SOS has increased its capacity to provide assistance in Valencia, allowing more affected people to receive the necessary support.

  • Messengers of Peace works in financial collaboration and with volunteers, in addition to donating special vehicles for clearing debris, strengthening mobility and distribution of supplies in the most affected areas.
  • Blessing has supplied two water treatment plants and machinery, ensuring access to drinking water and facilitating cleaning tasks.
  • Arca has donated 25,000 ready-made meals, meeting the food needs of thousands of people in crisis.

This support is in addition to REMAR’s commitment to continue helping families who have suffered the devastating consequences of the recent floods.
