The NGO REMAR in the Dominican Republic strengthens its ties with the U.S. Embassy through a new solidarity visit that brought joy, food, and hope to children
A second visit that strengthens bonds of solidarity
The NGO REMAR in Santo Domingo recently received a visit from Ms. Patricia Aguilera, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in the Dominican Republic, who visited the foundation for the second time, accompanied by members of the U.S. Navy. This significant visit reflects the diplomatic representation’s commitment and solidarity with social causes and the well-being of vulnerable children in the country.
During the meeting, they shared a meal with the children and young people living under REMAR’s protection, in a warm and joyful atmosphere. In addition, a generous donation of food, household items, and school supplies was made, which will be donated to REMAR’s shelters in the city, serving children at risk.
A growing bond of solidarity
The first visit of this delegation took place during the Christmas season, when the Embassy’s Marines organized a charity drive to deliver toys to children in need. On that occasion, they learned about REMAR’s work in the country and decided to personally deliver the toys. The event was led by Ms. Patricia Aguilera and featured renowned Dominican baseball player Vladimir Guerrero, who shared an unforgettable day with the children.
Since then, a relationship of mutual support has been maintained. About a month ago, REMAR representatives were invited to the U.S. Embassy, where they received a donation of furniture for their facilities. These actions consolidate a bond of cooperation that promises to continue to benefit the most vulnerable.
