REMAR Bolivia: Heat and hope in the winter shelters

REMAR Bolivia continues its solidarity work in the winter shelters of La Paz, offering food, shelter and words of hope to women, the elderly and children in vulnerable situations

One more year, REMAR Bolivia is present in the winter shelters of the La Paz Bus Terminal, dependent on the Municipal Autonomous Government, to provide support and warmth to the people who are there.

With great commitment and love, volunteers from REMAR Bolivia prepare and deliver rations of hot food and drinks to women, elderly people and children from rural areas who come to the city in search of economic opportunities. For these people, who do not have a decent place to spend the night during the cold winter, the shelter becomes a temporary shelter and REMAR Bolivia strives to provide them not only with basic sustenance, but also with words of faith, hope and a encouraging message based on the word of God.

Fighting the cold and poverty

Bolivia, considered one of the poorest countries in Latin America, faces a difficult reality for many families living in extreme poverty. The scarcity of resources to cover basic needs is exacerbated during the winter months, when temperatures drop drastically.

It is in this context that the work of REMAR Bolivia becomes even more significant. Their commitment to the most vulnerable people makes them a fundamental source of support, not only to mitigate hunger and cold, but also to offer a message of hope and human and spiritual accompaniment.

REMAR Bolivia: 27 years providing hope to those most in need

Since its arrival in Bolivia in 1997, REMAR Bolivia has worked tirelessly to provide assistance and support to the country’s most vulnerable populations, with a focus on social reintegration and the comprehensive development of people. Throughout 27 years of service, REMAR has made a significant difference in the lives of thousands of Bolivians.

Who does REMAR Bolivia help?

  • Broken families: Families that face difficulties due to marginalization, economic crisis, addictions or violence.
  • Women in a situation of helplessness: Women victims of violence, abandonment or with limited economic resources. The organization provides safe shelter in Casas Hogares, where they receive protection, emotional support and tools for their empowerment.
  • People with addictions: REMAR Bolivia offers rehabilitation and reintegration programs for people fighting addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances.
  • Young people at risk: The organization implements social integration and vocational training initiatives for young people at risk. Through workshops in areas such as sewing, baking, carpentry and audiovisual media, young people acquire skills for their incorporation into the labor market and their personal development.
  • Boys and girls: REMAR Bolivia focuses on meeting the basic needs of low-income boys and girls, including food, clothing, shelter, education, health and recreation. Shelters for women with children provide a safe and protective environment for their growth and development.
  • Solidarity kitchens: The organization operates solidarity kitchens in the most depressed areas of La Paz, El Alto, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz, where hundreds of boys and girls receive a free food ration daily.

A message of hope and a call to action

REMAR Bolivia’s actions in winter shelters serve as a reminder of the importance of solidarity and joint action to combat poverty and its most severe effects.

Their work invites the community to join the efforts to build a more just and equitable society, where all people have the opportunity to live with dignity and meet their basic needs.

Together we can build a better future for thousands of people in Bolivia.
